Uttarakhand brace up for snow and rain after February 4th according to officials at the Meteorological centre. This sudden change in the weather is due to the western disturbance hitting into Uttarakhand.
The Western Disturbance as a trough at 3.1 km above mean sea level has moved away eastnortheastwards.
The induced upper air cyclonic circulation over Northeast Rajasthan has become less marked.
“Weather will start changing from February 4 nights onwards and hilly districts are expected to receive light to moderate snowfall. Places like Dehradun, Haridwar, Pantnagar and Haldwani will receive rainfall.” said Bikram Singh, director, Meteorological Centre.
Minimum temperatures are observed < 5.0°C at most places over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal
Pradesh and at a few places over Uttarakhand; < 10.0°C at most places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram &
Tripura, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at a few places over Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya
Pradesh, Tamilnadu and at isolated places over SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
Also Fog likely at a few places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, south Assam and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura. Shallow to moderate fog very
likely at isolated places over rest Assam, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha during next 2 days
