Lakshya Sen is a 15-year old shuttler from Dehradun achieved a remarkable feat as he is now the top-ranked junior Badminton player in the world. His closest competitor in the rankings table is Chia-Hao Lee of Chinese Taipei who is at the second position by quite a distance.
Lakshya startes its boost in last year September after winning the All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament which was held at Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh. The youngest ever player and the first ever from Uttarakhand to win the title making a pride to uttarakhand, he defeated Daniel Farid of Karnataka in straight sets 21-11 and 21-14.
Sen also mesmerised badminton fans on the international circuit, clinching gold at the BWF International Challenger Series. He defeated 18-year-old Malaysian Lee Zii Jia to be crowned champion of the event.
These victories propelled Lakshya, who was ranked number eight at the end of last year, to the top three sports in 2017, before he finally attained the number one ranking on Thursday.
