On February 2 Facebook company decided to celebrate Friends Day, so when all Facebook users logged to the social network they saw a nice video wishing them a “Happy Friends Day!”.
“This Saturday, February 4, is Facebook’s 13th birthday, a day we call Friends Day,” said Oren Hod, Facebook’s product manager. For the last two years Facebook was celebrating the made up holiday on the anniversary of its launch but this year they decided sharing personalised videos with its billions of users today – February 2.
Despite that the official International Friendship Day, recognised by the United Nations, is marked as July 30 they decided to celebrate it on February and make it as a holiday.
“Today is a day to celebrate friends. It’s also Facebook’s birthday, but today isn’t about celebrating us. It’s about celebrating friendship.” said Mark Zuckerberg two years ago.
This celebration make some Facebook users confused others have been critical of the design of the videos, which feature a dancing humanoid figure that is made up of pictures of users with their friends, and like and reaction symbols.
