Nainital: On Thursday, The Uttarakhand High Court called off their earlier order which directed the state government to comply on the guidelines of CPCB to shut down all the stone crushing plants operating within 5 Km of Ganga river in Haridwar district. Sigh of relief from the stone crushing units.
This is the outcome of the state government’s review application against order dated May 3, 2017. The application stated that according to the state policy, mining activities could not be carried out within 500 metre of any river bank. According to the sources, the honourable court recalled the order after going through the review application from the state government finding that the order is against the state policy of mining.
Earlier, The CPCB had ordered the closure of stone crushers within 5km of Ganga on December 6, 2016. On August 25 this year, 43 stone crushers within 5 km of Ganga were sealed by Haridwar district administration.
